BRAND STORY
Dinari Couture is founded by designer Ieva Chandra who believes in crafting sumptuous fashion that truly outlines the beauty of a woman, embellishing her with plush and definitive elegance.
Dinari means ‘shining star’ in African-American English. It also refers to the extraordinary corset pattern from the 18th century that entirely focused on body shaping. Dinari corset structure being of great inspiration for the brand’s first collection has also influenced the brand name itself.
The Dinari Couture brand logo is inspired by the most eminent order of the Indian Empire founded by the Queen Victoria of the Great Britain in 1878.
INSPIRATION
Dinari Couture is innately reverent of royal Indian embroidery techniques, and coveted European patterns of fashion which have been timelessly celebrated. By fusing eclectic fashion of varied times the brand radiates a contemporary verve. It creates a personal couture which can be worn in innumerable manner.
Dinari Couture in its first collection focusses on reclaiming and reinventing the lost royal charms of corsets by romanticizing them with modern, innovative and progressive approach. It flaunts the legacy of Dinari corset pattern from the 18th century Europe which is infused with traditional silk embroidery from India developed during the royal heritage of the Mughals. Luxury pearls and iridescent crystals are adding to the charm. The collections are inspired by the glorifying force behind corsets, Agnès Sorel, known by the sobriquet Dame de beauté, the first ever royal mistress of King Charles VII of France.
MATERIALS AND PROCESS
All Dinari Couture pieces are crafted from finest materials chosen from the best sources in the world. Our silk is sourced from China, duchess satin & knitted fabrics from South Korea, Sumo Satin from Japan, pearls and crystals from Czech Republic. Our masterful craftsmen are bestowed with luxuriant skills passed on to them over several generations as a legacy. On an average they’re well versed with more than 70 techniques of intricate embroidery developed during the royal heritage of Mughals which boasts a rich fusion of Persian and Indian artistry. Their precision in pattern cutting, draping and delicate apparel construction abilities creates sumptuous pieces exuberating detailed fineness and elegance. Our corsets that vaunts embroidery are result of stitching one pearl and pasting one crystal at a time which takes it several days to finish.
SOCIAL VISION
Dinari Couture envisions to be identified as a force which innovatively adds newer meaning to how beauty is perceived by women. A force that doesn’t only empowers women to self-express their femininity and sexuality but a force that also uplifts those women who lack the means of choosing a life that they dream to live. We believe that business has the power to make the right difference in this world and the best way to demonstrate is when we lead by example. We lead our business with some core values being at its heart. We’re committed to protect the environment, defending human rights, activating human self-esteem, and uplifting the marginalized by providing them with the needed skill-set to be self-sustainable. The Dinari Couture Social Project in association with Chetna Welfare Society has currently taken up an initiative of offering skill-building to women in Delhi who have either been abandoned by their husbands or those who economically lack the means to sustain themselves. The objective is to train these women to stitch and do embroidery to make them employable in the job market. The Dinari Couture Social Project in association with Janta Aadarsh Blind School caters mid-day meals to 4 blind children for each product that is sold. Our business model is designed to procure highest quality materials that are environmental friendly, handcrafted only in exchange of fair wages and free of any exploitative labor to ensure every possible responsible practice.
We’re overwhelmed with the amass richness in heritage and traditions of Europe and India in the areas of fashion, beauty and art. As an Indo-European brand our endeavor is to create a positive cultural exchange of ideas, values, skills and the timeless traditions known to these two regions. We want to be the positive force that drives innovation and skill building in both these regions. As a part of this mission we’re already equipping Indian craftsmen to learn the European art of making Victorian era corsets and in near future we plan to initiate a campaign in Latvia (to begin with) where women can learn out of more than hundred types of traditional embroideries developed under royal aegis of Mughals.
